The purpose of this study was to examine the overall development direction of the film industry by reflecting the implicit and structural characteristics of the industry. To this end, the study analyzed the characteristics of Korean film industry by examining the precedent researches on the relevant subject and the current status and actual state of the Korean film industry. In addition, this study analyzed North American film market, the largest in the world, as a single market, and, based on these findings, it was intended to suggest the future development plans for the Korean film industry.
The research method was based on the literature review including the research of statistical data of specialized institutions. The findings of this study are presented as follows.
First, it is urgent to foster the film industry by improving the system of the film industry and by supporting transparent public funds.
Second, the size of fundamental film industry should be expanded by securing the diversity of domestic and foreign films.
Third, the industry should be promoted to diversify its profit structure by activating OTT market.
Fourth, the industry should be promoted to expand the market by advancing to advance into foreign markets.
Fifth, the industry should be maximized to get as many profits as possible by introducing A.J(Artificial Intelligence).
Finally, the industry should prepare for changes in the film industry after the Post Corona.
The number of foreigners visiting Korea is increasing every year. Their motivation for visiting Korea with interest is very diverse, but their common desire is the only one. It is Korean culture. "K-Wave" is no longer growing as a subculture shared by some enthusiasts, but as a mainstream. This is why the development of the Korean film industry is even more important.
