The purpose of this study is to examine the association between depression and Person-Environment Fit(below as PEF), and investigating the mediating role of job stress among elders participating in the Elderly Social Activity Support Program (below as ESASP).
To examine the research hypotheses, a total of 400 participants were included in the final analyses out of 477 responses. Testing for mediation using path analysis was examined using statistical packages SPSS Statistics 22.0 and AMOS 22.0.
The results show that PEF has a negative association with depression among elders participating in the ESASP. Second, PEF shows negative relationship with job stress. Third, job stress among elders participating in ESASP had a positive association with depression. Finally, it shows that job stress mediated the relationship between PEF and depression.
The results of the study highlight several important implications for policy suggestions practitioners. Further implications and future research directions are discussed. Despite the limitation the current study may contain, there are significant findings that expand and enrich the current literature.
