In order to carry out the duty of the National Infectious Disease Hospital, the military Daegu Hospital conducted a seven-day facility construction from February 27 to March 4, 2020 to expand from 100 beds (98 beds in the general hospital room, 2 beds in the isolation ward) to 303 beds (303 beds in the isolation ward) to 19 patients. Although it may be considered to be a specialized sound isolation ward, it is considered that the use of existing facilities to reduce response time and secure beds was economically beneficial, as many restrictions are followed in structures and facilities as mentioned above, and rapid response is important to prevent epidemics.
In case of Daegu Hospital, it cost about 810 million won to expand the 303 beds, and compared the unit cost of the new installation announced by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2015, the cost savings compared to the securing of new beds through construction can be seen.
However, simply repairing existing facilities and configuring them as sound isolation rooms has many limitations to meet all of the facilities specified by the KCDC, and compliance with facility and facility aspects and user safety and operational rules to effectively maintain sound pressure isolation rooms can be improved. Daegu Hospital treated 313 Corona 19 confirmed patients for 56 days starting with the first patient hospitalization on March 5, 2020, and discharged and powered up (Figure 32). While there are no confirmed cases of infection in only one medical staff or medical support staff during the mission, the existing facilities cannot be fully verified or confirmed as safe because of the lack of comprehensive verification of infection control.
