This study was aimed to investigate the effects of health promotion behaviors by working charateristics on emotional labor and job satisfaction among 329 nurse assistants working in the clinics, long termcare hospitals, and university hospitals. Frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis were performed by R projects. the results are as follows.
First, statistically significant correlations were found between health promotion behaviors and emotional labor(r=0.259, p〈0.001), between health promotion behaviors and job satisfaction(r=0.641, p〈0.001), and between emotional labor and job satisfaction(r=0.689, p〈0.001).
Second, the factors to influence emotional labor of nurse assistants were health promotion behaviors(ß=0.268, p〈0.001), drinking alcohols(ß=-0.162, p=0.003), average salary(ß=0.155 p=0.005), shift experience of work department(ß=0.132, p=0.017), and employment types(ß=-0.111, p=0.035). The factors according to working characteristics were health promotion behaviors(ß=0.284, p〈0.001) followed by departments(ß=0.169, p=0.003).
The factors to influence job satisfaction were health promotion behaviors(ß=0.565, p〈0.001), shift experience of work department(ß=0.166, p〈0.001), and health status(ß=-0.132, p=0.003). The influential factor by working characteristics was health promotion behaviors(ß=0.624, p〈0.001).
As a result, the health promotion behaviors of nurse assistants were found to affect emotional labor and job satisfaction, and the degree of emotional labor was reduced and job satisfaction increased when the practice of health promotion behaviors was increased. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and operate health promotion programs to meet the characteristics of nurse assistants.
