The Purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effects of Anger-in and Anger-out between Narcissistic Grandiosity/Vulnerability of the College Students on Displaced Aggression. To examine the relationship between these factors, 535 college students completed self report measure of Pathological Narcissism Inventory (PNI), State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory Korean Version (STAXI-K) and Displaced Aggression Questionnaire-Korean version (DAQ-K). A total of 504 data were used for the final analysis, excluding those who did not meet the conditions in this study and who responded insincerely and who participated in duplicate. To confirm the relationship between factors and the double mediating effects, the collected data were used to statistical analysis using the SPSS 22.0 and the SPSS Macro Process program.
The results of analysis showed that all variables had a significant positive correlation with each other. In the relationship between Narcissistic Grandiosity and Displaced aggression, double mediated effects of Anger-in and Anger-out were confirmed. Also in the relationship between Narcissistic Vulnerability and Displaced aggression, double mediated effects of Anger-in and Anger-out were confirmed.
The results and implications of this study are as follow. First, Narcissistic tendencies are not changed easily. Thus, the intervention in Anger-in and Anger-out will be therapeutic to reduce Displaced Aggression. Second, Improving empathy will be effective to reduce Dysfunctional anger expression and Displaced Aggression.
