Purpose; The purpose of this study is to understand the distribution of new patients and relapsed patients among the annual occurrence of tuberculosis in a One City, to examine more beneficial test methods and also to provide the basic data of test methods for the early detection of new patients.
Methods; This study comparatively analyzed the rate of new tuberculosis patients and relapsed tuberculosis patients targeting a total 2,455 tuberculosis patients in a One City reported through KDCA(Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency) by using the R Studio for Windows.
Results; In the case of age, the new patients in their 50s-60s were 1.764 times(p=0.007) higher than the new patients in their 20s or younger, compared to the relapsed patients. Regarding sex, the female patients were 0.736 times(p=0.007) lower than the male patients. In the types of tuberculosis, the extra-pulmonary tuberculosis was 0.519 times(P〈0.001) lower than pulmonary tuberculosis.
In the characteristics of the test, the new patients showed a positive 0.637 times(p=0.015) lower than the untested in the culture test(solid) compared to the relapsed patients. Also, the NTM was analyzed as 3.187 times(p=0.002) higher.
Conclusions; For the detection of new patients, there should be more tests for people in their 50s-60s than people in their 20s or younger. In the results of this study, it would be essential to perform the solid & liquid culture test, and conducting the TB-PCR test
