Low Back pain is one of the most common pain experienced in daily life as a high frequency symptom experienced at least once in a lifetime in a population of about 70-80%. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of acupuncture treatment and exercise therapy on the patient's pain in patients with chronic low back pain.
In this study, all treatment was processed in 8 sessions for 6 weeks. Among the patients aged 60 or older who visited due to chronic low back pain, the study was conducted voluntarily. Participants were randomly divided into three groups, with Group A performing simple acupuncture treatment only, Group B performing acupuncture treatment and William exercise at the same time, and Group C performing acupuncture treatment and McKenzie exercise at the same time. Evaluation was measured by VAS for chronic Low Back Pain, ROM(Range of Motion) of Low back, BDI(Beck's Depression Inventory), ODI(Oswestry Disability Index) before and after 8 session treatment for 6 weeks between the groups.
33 subjects finished study(Male : 7, Female : 26). In VAS and ODI, Group B and Group C significantly decreased compared to Group A, and there was no significant difference between Group B and Group C. In ROM, Group B and Group C significantly increased compared to Group A, and there was no significant difference between Group B and Group C. In BDI, There was no significant difference between the three groups.
In patients with Chronic Low Back Pain, the group that performed acupuncture and exercise therapy at the same time showed significant improvement for in VAS, ROM, and ODI compared to the group that performed acupuncture only. And there was no significant difference in BDI between the three groups.
