The purpose of this study is to develop and validate the SNS Emotional Expressivity Scale that measures the degree of emotional expression revealed on SNS of adults aged 19 to 59. Based on previous studies, SNS emotional expressivity consisted of 4 factor structures - SNS positive emotional expression, SNS negative emotional expression, SNS impression management, SNS relationship management.
A preliminary study aimed to examine the factors of SNS emotional expressivity and develop preliminary items. To achieve this purpose, the constructs of SNS emotional expressivity were defined based on theoretical and empirical approaches and 93 items were developed. 46 items were selected after two content validity and one face validity. The selected items were tested on samples of 199 and the sample data were analyzed through item analysis, reliability analysis and EFA(exploratory factor analysis). Through analysis processes, 4 factors with 32 items were identified.
In the main study, 32 items were administered by 299 adults for item analysis, EFA, CFA(confirmatory factor analysis) and reliability analysis. As a result, SNS Emotional Expressivity Scale for adults was developed into 16 items and 4 factors which were SNS positive emotional expression(4 items), SNS negative emotional expression(4 items), SNS intimacy seeking(4 items), SNS impression management(4 items).
And, this study checked the convergence validity and discriminant validity. As a result of validating the convergence validity, the final SNS Emotional Expressivity for adults seemed to positively correlated with Emotional Expressiveness Scale and SNS Emotional Expressivity for College students. The convergence validity of the final scale was verified, but the discriminant validity was not verified.
