Objectives: The purpose of this study was to confirm the relationship between the general characteristics, working condition and health problems of 502 nurses using the data from the 6th Korean Working Condition Survey.
Methods: Data analysis was performed using frequency, percentage, chi-square test, and logistic regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN program (IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 28.0).
Results: As for health problems, 329 (65.5%) had sleep problems, 192 (38.2%) fatigue, 183 (36.5%) musculoskeletal problems, and 40 (8%) anxiety.
In the difference in health problems according to the general characteristics of the subjects, fatigue (x²=8.282, p=0.004) was grouped by gender, and anxiety was grouped by age (x²=11.182, p=0.011) and income level (x²=12.310, p=0.006), there was a significant difference.
As a result of logistic regression analysis, the biochemical working condition in the factors that the working condition of nurses affects health problems is the handling or direct contact with substances that cause infection such as waste, body fluids, and experimental substances (OR=4.892 , p=0.003), ergonomic working condition is a fatigued or painful posture (OR=2.819, p=0.001), and the psychosocial working condition is dealing with angry customers, patients, or students (OR=2.375, p=0.009), and work stress (OR=4.864, p=0.000), and in the group exposed to work stress, which is a psychosocial working condition, all health problems except for anxiety showed significant results.
Conclusion: Through this study, it was confirmed that nurses' biochemical, ergonomic, and psychosocial working conditions affect health problems, and it is necessary to improve work efficiency by minimizing health problems by improving these harmful factors.
