Every International Relations theory has its own historical and academic background, and the same applies to the field of Korean International Relations as a discipline. Various reasons prevents Korean IR scholars from concentrating their efforts on the issue of gender politics and gendered IR. This article deals with the issue of the so-called "high politics," including security, military agendas, militarism, war and peace, with a specific focus on the Western IR theories such as realism and liberalism. IR as a field has been dominated by Western scholars reflecting their own empirical world, from which Korean scholars are alienated. Voices to gender IR field also have been raised first among Western feminist scholars, which have been adopted and transformed in Korean IR scholars. This article tried to problematize the issue of gendering IR from the perspective of Korean academy and reality.
