This study was designed to recognize variables influencing to attitudes toward persons with disabilities. Because of the argument that attitudes is not correspond to(or predict) real action to subject, in this study the attitude is divided to the cognitive bases and behavioral bases. Cognitive bases are measured by SADP(Scales of Attitudes toward the Disabled Persons) and behavioral bases are measured by Social Distance Scale.
The analysis showed that variables influencing to SADP are self esteem, existence of family members with disabilities, social economic status, attitudes of parents toward the disabled, gender and grade. Variables influencing to social distance to the disabled are self esteem, attitudes of parents toward the disabled, existence of friends with disabilities, and conditions of volunteer activity. The practical implication of finding is discussed.
