Recently, as studies related to the method for researching into dwelling site have been
actively progressed, cases of restoration is increasing.
Firstly, the most important thing in studies on settlement is to clearly recognize the
function and the construction of individual remains. Based on the recognition, in priority, the
analyses and the interpretations of individual remains should be performed. After that, we
should specifically study on residences in settlement, other remains, and their arrangement,
functional spaces. Realizing the process of the study, we restored residential area in the Age
of Bronze to make use of the results from the experiments in that place.
The object to be restored was decided for long rectangular residences in the early age
of Bronze. In the restored dwelling site, we measured the temperature, and carried out the
experiments of the ground.
After restoration, we try to differently understand the existence or non-existence of the
ridge of roof, the holes in the middle pillars, and then presumed the upper side of residences
and the constructive methods between pillars. Above all, it is necessary to restore the residential
which had been destroyed by fire, after observed carefully.
From the result, we found that it had been possible to use ground by 1-2gi, and also
traced the verifying method of temporary or lasting uses. We understood the method of
hardening ground by using clay and charcoal.
Through above experiments, we presumed the volume of firewood and the space for
it. The result was that settlements including remains in Baekseok-dong site had recognized
that they needed to secure the space for firewood.
