The aim of this study was to analyze heavy metals contaminations in the flood plain and sedimentary soil on the Han River. Soil samples were taken at 15 sites which were divided into 3 sections in the eastern part of the Han-River at Kwangnaru, Jamsil, and Jamwon-district. The results showed that the average concentrations of heavy metals were As 1.252 mg/kg (0.037 ~ 2.943 mg/kg), Pb 2.666 mg/kg (0.299 ~ 6.011 mg/kg), Cd 0.009 mg/kg (ND ~ 0.165 mg/kg), Cu 2.823 mg/kg (0.402 ~ 7.826), and Cr 0.051 mg/kg (0.023 ~ 0.113 mg/kg), respectively. The concentrations of heavy metals were slightly increased after flooding. However, the concentrations of heavy metals were much lower than would cause concern for soil contamination.
