Deep sea water (DSW) generally refers to sea water from a depth of more than 200 meters. Recently, the utilization of DSW is receiving much attention due to its high productivity, large quantity, and potential for recycling energy. In order to develop and manage the DSW, long term estimation of its demand is widely asked, but empirical work of demand analysis on the DSW products remain scarce. This study attempts to estimate the demand for the DSW products employing the data from a survey of 500 persons in the Metropolitan area (Seoul, Kyungki, and Incheon). We classified the DSW products into bottled drinkable water, soft drinks, alcohol, cosmetics, bean curd, salts, and bathing supplies. The demand for the seven DSW products was estimated for the Metropolitan area and then expanded to the nation. The annual demand for each DSW product in 2018 is estimated as 80.6, 452.6, 537.9, 158.5, 91.8, 187.8, and 392.2 billion wons in 2006 constant value, respectively. Thus, the annual DSW products market size amounts to 1,902.6 billion wons. These quantitative information can be usefully utilized in the policy-making for the industrialization of the DSW.
