1930년대 소설에서의 돈과 육체-이상(李箱)의 소설을 중심으로채 호 석이 논문은 식민지 시대 소설에서 나타난 ‘돈과 육체의 관계’를 탐구하기 위해 씌어졌다. 이 논문의 주요 대상은 1936년 6월에 발표된 이상의 소설 <지주회시>이다. 먼저 소설 속에서 ‘돈과 육체의 관계’가 드러나는 방식에 대해서 검토하였다. 돈과 육체의 관계는 여러 가지 방식으로 드러난다. 첫 번째는 ‘가난’의 형식이다. 가난은 결핍으로 인해 야기된다. 그러나 그 결핍이 어떤 결핍인가에 따라 가난은 다시 두 가지 방식으로 나누어 생각할 수 있었다.하나는 그야말로 물질적 가난이다. 생존에 필요한 물품들을 마련할 수 없는 상태를 뜻한다. 이런 ‘가난’의 경우, 돈은 실질적으로 배제된다. 왜냐하면 필요를 느끼는 인간과 그 필요를 충족시켜 주는 물품 사이의 직접적인 관계가 중심이 되기 때문이다. 여기서 돈은 그것을 단지 매개해주는 존재 이상의 것이 아니다.두 번째는 상대적 가난이다. 매개된 욕망에 의해 타자의 욕망을 자신의 욕망으로 삼아 욕망을 추구하는 경우이건, 아니면 ‘구별’을 위해 소비를 하는 것이건 이러한 의미에서의 가난일 경우 돈은 ‘물신적 존재’로 나타난다.그러나 자본주의 사회에서 돈과 육체의 관계가 가장 명료하게 드러나는 것은 노동의 상품화와 성의 상품화에서이다.노동의 상품화와 성의 상품화는 기본적으로는 동일하지만, 육체와 그 육체의 주인이 맺는 관계에 따라 다른 양상을 보인다.이상의 <지주회시>는 성의 상품화라는 맥락에서 돈/자본의 순환고리 자체를 드러내며, 아울러 그에 대응하는 독특한 방식을 보여주고 있어 주목할 만하다. <지주회시>는 다른 소설들과는 달리, ‘돈/자본의 순환고리’에서 배제된 존재가 그 순환고리 속에 절망적으로 스스로를 포섭해 들이는 방식을 보여줌으로써 자본의 본질과 부정성을 ‘부정성’으로 보여준다.그리고 바로 이 때문에 리얼리즘 소설이나 ‘연민’의 시선으로 세계를 대하는 박태원 유의 소설과도 구분될 수 있다.A Study on the Relation of Money and Corps-Particularly in Lee Sang's Short StoriesChae Ho SeokThis is a study on the relation of money and corps. This poverty come from the comparison with the others. Desire for desire of the other or desire for distinction is this. The result of this desire is fetishism of money. 2) The trade of the labor and sex: This is the most expressive of the relation of the money and corps. The trade of labor and of sex is essentially equal, but is different in the relation of owner.Lee Sang's Ji-ju-heui-si explosive the essential of the link of money/capital. And this novel views the way of the excluded one from this link desperately insert oneself in this link and the negativity of this action.And this is the peculiarity of this novel.
