FTA is one of the most important forms of regional trade arrangement in the world. In recent years, it has been development rapidly as an approach of regional economic cooperation, facilitating free trade and in vestment. As a result of globalization, and to respond to needs of a market economy opening to the outside world, the Korean government has geared up its efforts in exploring, negotiating, and establshing FTAs in different regions. FTA between Korea and EU is in negotiation. Rules of origin is the most important tool to identify the originating and non-origi-nating products, this study examined and suggested criteria for origin determination for individual products of Korea and EU by the industrial difference between Korea's and EU's tariff rates, the industrial difference between Korea's and EU's trade balance of payment, the industrial difference between Korea's and EU's impor market share. The result of this study will expect to provide a practical reference for any policy consideration in the rules of origin negotiations.
