본 연구는 중국유학생들을 대상으로 하여 한국의 대학생활에서의 적응양상을 살펴보고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 서울 및 충북, 경북 지역에 위치한 대학교에 재학 중인 유학생 11명을 대상으로 하여 이들이 한국대학에 입학하게 된 동기와 대학생활에서 겪는 스트레스에 대하여 질적 면접을 실시하였고, 이에 대한 내용을 주제 분석 방법을 적용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 중국유학생들의 대학입학 동기는 (1) 미래목표를 위한 준비 (2) 가족 및 가까운 사람들의 영향 (3) 한국문화에 대한 관심과 동경으로 크게 구분되어 나타났다. 한국의 대학생활에서 경험하는 스트레스의 내용은 (1) 학업에서의 스트레스 (2) 경제적인 스트레스 (3) 인간관계에서의 스트레스 (4) 정서적인 스트레스 (5) 미래와 취업에 대한 부담감으로 인한 스트레스 (6) 학교의 제도에 대한 불만의 총 6개 범주로 나뉘었고, 더 구체적으로 11개의 하위범주가 발견되었다. 이러한 문제에 대한 대학교와 상담기관의 역할, 제도적인 정책 마련의 필요성, 그리고 중국유학생 당사자의 노력 등에 대해 논하였고, 마지막으로 연구의 의의와 제한점을 제시하였다.This study was carried out for the purpose of investigating Chinese students's adaptation to Korean college life. Qualitative interviews were conducted in regards to the motivation for college entrance and the stresses incurred during college life for 11 Chinese students who were studying at colleges located in Seoul, Keung- Sang-Buk Do and Chung-Chung-Buk Do. Data from the interviews were analyzed using the theme analysis method. The results showed that the reasons for college enrollment were (1) preparation for future goals (2) the influence of family or close friends and (3) their interests in and admiration of Korea culture. The stress they experienced in college life fell into six categories, namely, (1) stress about studies (2) financial stress (3) stress in regards to human relationships(4) emotional stress (5) stress in regards to their futures and getting a job (6) stress in regards to their dissatisfaction about the college system. And more concretely, the stress they experienced in college life was found to be comprised of eleven sub-categories. The roles of college and counseling centers and the necessity of systematic preparation for Chinese students and efforts of Chinese students for adaptation were also discussed. Finally, the implications and limitations of these findings were presented.
