Success in realizing lifelong learning is broadly seen as an important factor in promoting employment, economic development, democracy and social cohesion in every countries. Therefore, Canada also tries to facilitate all people's participation in adult education. However, there are some problems like inequality in adult educational opportunity according to their academic background, social classes, and ages which will influence the distribution of national wealth. And such problems contradict with the original goals of lifelong learning in pursuing social justice giving more educational chances to the disadvantaged group.
In this context, I surveyed current status and problems in Canadian adult education. After that, I analyzed their agonies and endeavors in actualizing lifelong learning society. Lastly, I suggested several recommendations to reflect their endeavors to the Korean adult education. It will be a meaningful work to compare adult education system of advanced country to make our system better.
