A total of 147 workplaces discharging specified wastes in the 17 major industrial categories to study discharging characteristics of unregulated 8 inorganic metals in Korea had been selected by based on the statistical analysis, which include the production status of specified wastes, legal waste treatment systems, and hazardous waste discharging inventories to perform the selection of workplaces and site investigations. The analysis had been focused on the leachate and total content concentration of 8 inorganic metals (Zn텻i텳톁b텯a톁e텯e톅) from sludges, dust and fly ashes etc. of 218 samples. From the result of leaching test, the range of concentration of Ni, V and Be from dust of pulp and paper manufacturing industry is ND ~ 824.2, ND ~ 2,054.40 and ND ~ 50.00 mg/L, respectively. The range of concentration of Zn and Se from dust of nonmetallic mineral manufacturing industry is ND ~ 459.08 and ND ~ 314.60 mg/L. If Zn and Ni are regulated to specified wastes in Korea, V, Se and Be, which is exceeded suggested standards, will be managed together. Total amount of additional specified waste and the expense of its treatment are 98,965.6 ton (3.14%) and 3.06 billion won based on 2005 Korea's specified waste statistical data.
