The increased number and high quality of excavations since 2000 have gone hand
in hand with the development of methods and techniques for fieldwork. Nevertheless, the
manual recording system of archaeological features, which requires excessive output of time
and labor, as well as unnecessary expenditure, is still the dominant recording method. In
order to solve these problems, a recording method using photos is suggested and its instruction
is introduced in this article.
As well as saving time and cost, the photo recording method is expected to facilitate
the efficient reconstruction of archaeological features and the digitization of acquired
archaeological data. Furthermore, it may also enable the application of methodologies
previously unused in the analysis of archaeological data from field surveys.
