This study is aimed at presenting direction of oral health education involving dental hygienist, having investigated oral health behaviors and eating habits of college students, and having measured an objective Decayed, Missing and Filled Teeth Index (DMFT Index), and having examined factors that affect oral health substantially, and having utilized all these results from survey and investigation as basic reference materials in order to promote and maintain oral health.
The following results were obtained through this survey and examinations.
1. Results from survey on daily eating frequency in college students revealed that 46 male students (41%) and 26 female students (29%) eat two times a day, which is the largest frequency, and that the most of the participants eat snacks at least one time daily, which is the biggest frequency.
2. And that the frequency of tooth brushing in male students was two times a day, and three times in female students, and the most participants brush their teeth after meal.
3. Results from survey of the objective oral conditions indicated that in case of male students, the dental caries experience was average 8.81 each, and in case of female students, 9.64 each(p>0.05).
4. The results from survey showed that the dental caries experiences of the group of participants who considered that their oral conditions were very good, and also those who thought that their oral hygiene conditions were very bad were lower than those of the other groups(p>0.05).
5. Results from analysis of factors that have influence on the objective degree of oral health revealed that this occurred in the order of the use of other oral cleaning devices than toothbrushes, the frequency of eating snack, the kinds of snacks, and the frequency of tooth brushing.
