In this article I made some cultural maps of the Suldurumi and the exchange pattern of the wedding food in the Kyungbuk Province. Through this work I aimed to give basic informations for the study of the pottery and the traditional wedding ceremony. In addition I wanted to know the meaning of the cultural area.
The Data for this paper was collected through the questionaire that is not used generally under the modern Korean anthropologists. It was collected firstly through the direct conversation, secondly per mail. For this work I choose one village per Myeon, so in 225 villages questionaires were filled through the direct conversation. Per mail I could get only 20 questionaires of all 200 which were sent to the elementary school in all Myeon. I think this method makes my paper different from the other anthropological papers in Korean produced by the case study method.
In Kyungbuk Province there are two cultural areas in the east and the west. The middle zone can be considered as transition zone is normally composed of Yecheon, Andong, Chongsong, Eusung, Chilgok, Chongdo Kuns. While in the east zone the ceramic bottles for the Japanese Sake were used already in the 50es as transport instrument for the ceremony alcohol, the traditional Suldurumi was used till 70es in the west zone of the Kyungbuk Province. I think that this process began from the Yangban in the east zone, and it was imitated by the ordinary people. Through cultural maps I have known that this process was different in line with the zone. In the west Zone it went on slowly, because there was a relative little tension between the Yangban and the peasant.
In conclusion I think that the regional specialities, which came into view through the cultural map study, should be taken into consideration in the studying of the traditional Korean folk cultures.
