The objective of this study is to examine how the division of household labor is in dual-earner families and affects work-family spillover and marital satisfaction of wives, providing implications to assist them successfully integrate work and family roles and enhance their marital relationships. From the longitudinal data of the KLoWF(Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women & Families) in 2007 and 2008, two hundred and fifty-three working wives of wage earners living with more than one preschooler and without domestic assistant are used in the analysis. The results show that husbands perform household labor 34 minutes during the week and 2 hours and 53 minutes on the weekends. In contrast, wives perform household labor 4 hours and 4 minutes during the week and 9 hours and 16 minutes on the weekends. Thus wives perform household labor seven times longer during the week and three times longer on the weekends than their husbands do. Although wives do overwhelmingly more household labor than their husbands, they're a little satisfied with their husbands' division of household labor. The regression analyses reveal that couples' actual amount of times spent in household labor on the weekends are significant predictors of wives' work-family spillover, and that wives' satisfactions with their husbands' division of household labor positively related to marital satisfactions in dual-earner families.
