This article aims to divide the type of the wedding food exchange between the bride kin group and groom kin group and to explain its change through the concept, imitation and differentiation of Simmel and Bourdieu, Wiegelmann. Specially the german folklorist Wiegelmann has explained the changing process of the food culture in central europe the the concept, imitation and differentiation. This theoretical consideration means a lot to this article.
This article begins from the point that although the Korean old wedding ceremony could give much this was neglected by the Korean folklorists and anthropologists. I will overcome this through my article.
The peasant in Chirye was divided into four group:the upper class, the middle class, the lower class, the landed class. The lower class exchanged the wedding food by the 0:0 exchage way, the middle class and upper class exchanged it by the 1:0 or 2:1 exchange way. Only the landed class could exchange through 1:1 way.
In the 1980es the new way of exchage came out and was accepted by the almost every class. It was 1:1way, in which the groom kin group sent the food at first. The original 1:1 way means that the bride kin group must send the food at first. This means that the way of upper class was imitated by the middle class, simultaneously it meas that the middle class mingle their way with the way of upper class. This was imitated the former upper class, which means the contrary imitation.
