Korea established standing troops for overseas Peace Operations (POs) to promote international roles of the Korean forces and to contribute to international peace. Nevertheless, there are few discussions about what kinds of missions and operations the overseas dispatch troops should take in conflicting regions. This study proposes importing the 'Three-block War' idea into Korea's PKO troops. This idea suggests that in the near future war will be conducted mostly in urban areas and soldiers should be able to do multiple tasks including warfighting, humanitarian aid and POs. Recently, some countries including Canada applied the Three-block War to the tactical training and education for PO troops. For a long-term perspective, moreover, this idea may be contributable for the Korean forces to prepare the deployment of Korean troops in North Korea and to conduct stability operations when emergency situations such as the collapse of North Korean regime occur.
