본 연구는 특수교육지원센터에서 이루어지고 있는 장애 영ㆍ유아에 대한 지원현황, 영ㆍ유아 지원에 대한 역할 중요도, 지역규모별 운영 및 역할 중요도 차이를 알아보고 특수교육지원센터에서의 효율적인 장애 영ㆍ유아 지원방안을 제안하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 특수교육지원센터의 전담교사를 대상으로 설문조사와 포커스그룹 면담을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는. 첫째, 특수교육지원센터에서 장애 영ㆍ유아 지원 운영현황에 대해 전담교사들은 잘 이루어지지 않고 있다고 하였고(M=2.89, SD=.75), 장애 영ㆍ유아 지원에 대한 역할 중요도는 높은 것으로 나타났으며(M=4.23, SD=.51), 장애 영ㆍ유아 운영현황과 역할 중요도 간에 큰 차이가 있는 것으로(t=24.35, p<.001)로 밝혀졌다. 둘째, 지역규모별 특수교육지원센터의 운영현황을 비교해 본 결과, 광역도시가 중ㆍ소도시나 농ㆍ산ㆍ어촌에 비해 장애 영ㆍ유아 지원이 잘 되는 것으로 나타났고, 중ㆍ소도시와 농ㆍ산ㆍ어촌 간에는 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 특수교육지원센터의 장애 영ㆍ유아 운영의 어려움으로는 홍보부족, 업무대비 인력부족, 전문성을 갖춘 전담인력 확보의 문제, 지역규모별 교사 수급의 문제, 장애 영아를 위한 교육프로그램 미비 등을 들고 있었다. 넷째, 특수교육지원센터에 자격을 갖춘 전담인력 배치, 지역별로 차별화된 영ㆍ유아 지원 시스템 개발, 통합교육지원 및 가족지원을 통한 장애 영ㆍ유아 지원 등이 효율적 운영방안으로 도출되었다.The purpose of this study was to provide recommendations for promotion of early childhood special education(ECSE) in local Special Education Support Centers by examining the current nationwide status and importance of the role, local discrepancy and support needs for the management of ECSE. To establish this purpose, this study surveyed and interviewed the teachers in charge of local Special Education Support Centers. This study surveyed 237 teachers from 98 local Special Education Support Centers and conducted Focus Group Interview (FGI) with 17 teachers. The findings of this study are as follows: first, it is less than average to support for ECSE in Local Special Education Support Centers, The roles of local Special Education Support Centers for ECSE were regarded as very important, There were statistically significant differences between the current management status and importance of center’s roles, second, wide districts(urban) have more operative than medium/small districts and farming/fishing villages, third, lack of specialized staff for ECSE, specialized curriculum for infants with disabilities and publicity activities were a hindrance to support for ECSE in local Special Education Support Centers. Lastly, the study suggests implications for promotion plans based upon these results.
