As part of Li Chi(Records of Rites), Xeuji was a book that recorded the traditional learning ideology of early Confucianism. In particular, its in-depth reference to learning issues for sovereign rulers was particularly meaningful. This study analyzed the spirit of Teaching and Learning and the process of learning shown in Xeuji and identified that Xeuji contained noticeable learning ideology in the aspects of the fundamental principles of Teaching and Learning and character building. Through literature analysis, the study suggested Xeuji-based negative and positive aspects that the Teaching and Learning method could have. In doing so, it attempted to shed light on the ethics of dedication to the studies that teachers should be equipped with and examine the learning attitudes, a will to learn and inner character of ancestors that could be seen through Xeuji.
Teaching and Learning ideology of Xeuji who identified it with daily life and worried specifically about self-training and self-development allowed people to have a macroscopic approach, such as thought and ideology, and a microscopic approach, such as actual methods and practice. Besides, by mentioning the correlations between learning and ruling that should be possessed by the social status, especially by the rulers, Xeuji reminded people of the true meaning of education that individuals and society could prosper together, based on Teaching and Learning.
Xeuji's message will be sufficient enough to be a model to today's theory of Teaching and Learning that emphasizes the functional elements of education.
