이 연구는 최중도 지체장애학생의 성공적인 진로교육을 위해 미래에 대한 염려 및 학교에서의 진로교육 현황과 방향 탐색에 대해 지체장애학생의 학부모 6명을 대상으로 포커스그룹면담으로 알아보았다. 최중도 지체장애학생의 진로와 관련한 염려는 진로교육기관의 부재와기회 부족과 인권침해와 권리박탈 등 이었으며, 학교에서의 진로교육에 대한 현황과 방향은학생의 생활연령에 적합한 종단적 교육지원, 개별 학생-중심의 의사소통 교육 및 도전행동지원, 최소제한환경에서의 지역사회 기반 교수, 교육적 합성자로서의 진로상담 및 전문성확보, 통합된 진로지원 기관 설치를 들고 있었다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 최중도 지체장애학생들에게 성공적인 진로교육을 실시하여 그들의 교육성취를 높일 수 있는 방안에 대하여 논의하고 결론을 제시하였다.The purpose of study was to find out how parents' perceive on career education of students with profound physical disabilities. Specifically, difficulties the parents experienced and educational supports needed for implementing career education for students with profound physical disabilities were investigated by conducting in-depth interview to 6 mothers(2 graduate, 2 elementary school students, 2 middle and high school students on the register). The main difficulties for career education for students with profound physical disabilities were categorized into 2 themes: uncertain future life about students which graduated from high school, (1) lack of career supports institution (educational opportunities) for students with profound physical disabilities (2)worry about human rights abuse or deprivation of rights. What they wanted for educational supports in school days were categorized into 5 main themes as (1)instruction of appropriate chronological age and longitudinal transition plan for a students, (2) students-centered educational plan about non-verbal communication and challenge behaviors, (3) community-based education plan as at least restrictive environment. Implication and (4) secure of special education teacher`s expertise and career consultation as a educational synthesizer, (5) organize a combined committee of career support for students with profound physical disabilities.
