본 연구에서는 장애 남자 대학생의 생활 경험을 질적 연구방법 중 하나인 근거이론 접근방법에 따라 분석하였다. 연구 대상은 현재 종합대학교에 재학 중인 장애 남자 대학생 6명으로 저시력 학생 1명, 뇌병변 학생 1명, 지체장애 학생 2명, 안면장애 학생 1명, 청각장애 학생 1명이었다. 대상자와의 심층면담을 통하여 자료를 수집한 뒤 면담 내용을 모두 전사하여 개방적 표본추출 방식에 따라 가능한 다양한 개념과 범주를 찾는 데 주안점을 두고 광범위한 자료를 얻을 수 있도록 노력하였다. 연구결과 장애 남자 대학생의 생활 경험과 관련된 모든 경험이 중심현상인 “옭매임”이라는 현상을 중심축으로 전개되는 것으로 나타났다. 중심현상을 생성시키는 인과적 조건은 “박탈감”이었으며, 중심현상에 영향을 주는 환경적 요소인 맥락으로는 "시선 의식”, “교육환경, “교육·치료 효과”가 작용하였다. 중재 상황에는 “사회·경제 지원”, “성격 성향”, “전공 적성”, “의지력”이 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 전략으로는 “대비함”, “탓”, “현실 회피”를 사용하는 것으로 나타났으며, 그에 따른 결과는 “홀로 서기”, “현실 안주”, “움츠러듦”으로 분석되었다.The purpose of this study was to analyze the life experience of male university students with disabilities based on the grounded theory. The analysis was performed through classifying the life experience types of male university students with disabilities based on core phenomenon, context, intervening condition, coping strategy and result. The participants were 6 male university students with disabilities and they were 20-24 years old. In-depth interview was conducted with recording by MP3 player and their interview data were transcribed and analyzed by the grounded theory method of Strauss and Corbin. The results are as follows; First, the data were analyzed into 134 concepts, 34 subcategories and 15 categories. Second, the core phenomenon that male university students with disabilities have felt during their lives was "a feeling of constriction". The causal condition contributed to the "a feeling of constriction" was "deprivation". As, contexts "recognizing of social prejudice", "education environment" and "education and treatment effect" had an effect on the density of core phenomenon. The intervening conditions were "social and economic support", "types of characteristics", "major aptitude" and "willpower". They made an influence on their coping strategies for their core phenomenon. Their coping strategies were "preparation", "blame", and "escapism". Those strategies made them to be "living by themselves", "person with complacent attitude", and "withdraw person". Third, according to the grounded theory paradigm, the life experience type of male university students with disabilities were 5 types.
