The overdose of drugs is not only harmful to mental and physical of teenagers but also a significant social problem that leads to more extreme crimes such as rape, robbery, murder and violence. UNODC has published ‘World Drug Report’ in 2008 and according to the report, the minimum dosage of drugs is indicated approximately 155milion-250milion for men which accounts for 3.5%∼3.7% of entire population within the range of age 15-64. Among this population, the addicts are estimated to be 16million-38million. The rapid growth in dosage of drugs is related to easy access to the drugs that are brought in by overseas students and teenagers who are exposed to drugs in the entertainment places such as karaoke and many more. According to the statistics in Teenager crimes (Age between 14∼19) indicated by 2011 Prosecutor’s Office, teenager crimes accounted for 4.4% of entire crime cases as of July 2011. Teenager drug crimes has been increasing 247 in 2007, 439 in 2008, 547 in 2009 and 883 in 2010, which has risen 369% in four years span. Furthermore, there were 677 cases until July, 2011. The increase in teenager’s drug crimes is significantly related to international students and native English instructors who became the channel for trafficking and transforming common drugs such as marijuana into cookies and ecstasy in pills. Especially, purchasing drug related products on internet and sending overseas mail has became typical method of channel. These internet sites are located in the overseas which makes it difficult to trace by law enforcement. Furthermore, crimes are growing in variety of method like planting drugs in individual’s house to avoid enforcement and these plantation videos are widely spread in the biggest video clip website ‘Youtube’. Recently report on drug crimes states that the dosage of drugs by teenager is relatively less than adults. However, teenagers begin using harmful chemical materials and psychotropic drugs such as bond and butane gas in early ages and highly exposed to become an addict. Therefore, this study would like to analyze the current status of drug crimes and its relation to teenagers based on the trend today. Furthermore, this study also suggests aspects of law enforcement, medical treatment, and public offices and education sector’s plan for countermeasures relating to drug crimes of teenagers.
