Two military intrusions of Goryeo-Mongol allied forces to Japan in 1276 and 1281, called 'Wongu' have been one of the most researched topics in the academic world of Japanese history with longest historical accumulations. It is also one of the representative historical cases in the premodern era directly involved with all three East Asian countries including Korea, Japan and China. Because of the national tendency of Korean academic world, this topic has not been yet largely focused nor researched enough even though Korea was one of the major parties in this case. In spite of the reality, two military intrusions of Goryeo-Mongol allied forces to Japan are still useful, recognized as a valuable source that can add depth in the studies of relationship between Goryeo and Mongolia in the thirteenth century and meaningful for the researches of international relationship as well as in interdisciplinary studies. Based on this view, this research analyzed about 200 related studies recently conducted in Japan from 1976 to 2011 to find out the research trend dividing into several aspects such as Japanese medieval history aspect, archaeological aspect, art material using aspect and so on, and presented such trend so that a variety of researches accumulated in this field can be over-viewed. At the same time, this research also emphasizes on the recent discussions based on the East Asian perspective and on the significant archaeological discoveries as well. The value of this research is agreed at the point that it reviews the progress of Japanese researches on the topic highlighting the significance of researches on the military intrusion of Goryeo-Mongol allied forces to Japan which has not been researched actively in the academic world of Korean history.
