The purpose of this study is taking a general view of a city image of Seoul in a literary text of North Korea and comparing it with image of Pyongyang. When we see a literary work of North Korea in chronological order, the image of Seoul that was positive immediately after liberation was condemned as ‘a city of disease’ and a corrupted city’ under South Korea and USA. It was formed as ‘a peaceful and stable city’ under North Korean army for 3moths during the Korean War. However, excepting for when they praised Seoul with 4.19 Revolution in the early 1960’s, a literary work of North Korea has been negatively writing about Seoul until now, 2000’s. But it needs to reproduce objectively its figure and recreate a positive image also, not criticizing their opponent’s capital city each other, North-South Korea. For example, Park Tae-won’s historical novel, The Gabo Peasant War(『갑오농민전쟁』) of the North Korean novels has been reproduced excellently a city image of Seoul. Like this, if we find the positive community of a city image of both Seoul and Pyongyang and see a clue to the mutual exchange, it would be a concrete example social integration process for South and North Korea.
