이 연구에서는 한국어 학습자를 위한 대우 표현 연구의 방향과 내용 구성의 방향에 관하여 논의하였다. 한국어 학습자를 위한 대우 표현 연구는 대우 표현의 형식 정보와 사용 정보를 함께 연구해야 한다. 또한 한국어 대우 표현 교육 정보를 적극적으로 활용하여 한국어 학습자의 의사소통 능력을 향상시켜야 함을 강조하였다. 나아가 한국어 대우 표현의 내용 구성을 관계 중심 내용 구성과 상황 중심 내용 구성으로 구분하여 논의하였다.Korean honorific expression is one of the most significant features of Korean language for Korean learners. In this study, a different approach to honorific expression education research for Korean language learners was presented. The traditional approach in which the categories are divided into subject respect, object respect, and hearer respect. The other approach is focusing separately on the sentence’s final endings, pre-final endings, pronouns, nouns, propositions, verbs, and so on. To make Korean language learners speak honorific expression fluently, they need the ability to use practical communication skills as well as be able to communicate naturally. Communicative competence consist of four components as linguistic competence, sociolinguistic competence, discourse competence, strategic competence. Therefore, honorific expression research of the field of Korean language education should be achieved using effective contents. Thus, the result of honorific expression research for Korean language education should be able to use information about honorific expression. To use the information about honorific expression, I discussed the focal point of phonological information, syntactic information, semantic information, and pragmatic information. When Korean language learners use the Korean honorific expression it is important to understand the relationship between the conversation participants. Status, age, gender, and intimate between participants, depending on the relationship, because Korean language learners can choose a variety of expressions. The most important criteria in determining the relationship of conversation participants that is determined by the relationship of the family status or age.
