The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the level of sport for all participation on sports commitment, body image and global self-concept of an adult. The subjects of this study consisted of 307(male=173, female=134) adults who are participating in sport for all in sports centers. The used instruments were the Jung(1999) for measuring sports commitment and the Byeon(1996) for measuring body image and the Kim(1993) for measuring global self-concept. The data were analyzed by correlation analysis and multi regression analysis as a statistical method. The result of this study was as follows. First, among the subscale of the level of participation for Sport for all, exercise intensity had an effect on cognitive commitment and behavioral commitment. And exercise frequency positively influenced cognitive commitment, figure image, and ideal self. Second, behavioral committment in the sub-scales of sports commitment had an effect on body image(weight, health and figure images), but not on global self-concept. Third, among the sub-scales of body image, figure image had an effect on ideal self. In summary, the level of participation had an effect on body image through sports commitment. And sports commitment had an effect on global self-concept through body image. Body image had an effect on global self concept.
