The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of recreation specialization on sports enjoyment and future behavioral intention of tennis club members. The subjects of this study consisted of 322 tennis club members. The scales used in this study were recreation specialization scale by Lee(2007), sports enjoyment scale by Kim(1999), and future behavioral intention scale by Seo(2003). The data were analyzed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, t test, correlation analysis and regression analysis as a statistical method.
The main findings of this study were follows. First, there were partial difference in sports enjoyment between high specialization group and low ones, especially the difference found in the factors of perceptions of competence, practice and its benefits, team atmosphere, and winning/competition. Second, future behavioral intention was higher high specialization group than low ones. Third, recreation specialization positively influenced sports enjoyment and future behavioral intention. Fourth, among the subscales of sports enjoyment, both team atmosphere and winning/competition positively influenced future behavioral intention.
