The internal streams of consciousness are taken more seriously than external events in 60s' novels. This tendency called self-conscious is oriented to the self-assurance. Because one becomes conscious of the self by other's intervention, the formations of self-consciousness presuppose the recognition of otherness. Self-consciousness, that is, the recognition of conditions placed oneself leads to self-reflection generally. Additionally it is a main trait that characters of 60s' novels show the sense of guilty. Seo Chong-in, Kim Seung-ok and Yi Chong-jun describe the self-consciousness of a social reality of 60s', however, they are tormented by guilt about heteronomous conditions. The ironical attitude to otherness, performance of one's part assigned inevitably or accidentally and serious investigation into otherness are literary means to defend the guilty. The sense of gulity is evidence for admitting oneself guilty as well as not free. At this point, a sense of guilt meets with a certain ethic.
