The current study aims to analyze the characteristics of English speaking and writing lessons that are given under five differing teaching conditions. These teaching conditions are: the ‘advanced-level students' condition, the 'low-level students' condition, the 'large class size' condition, the 'integration with listening' condition, and the 'integration with reading' condition. For this purpose, the study analyzed 55 lesson plans, related materials, and video clips which were developed to teach high school students five different speaking tasks and six writing tasks under these five teaching conditions. The analyses focus on the characteristics of each lesson phase (pre-speaking/writing activities, while-speaking/writing activities, and post-speaking/writing activities) for each teaching condition. It is hoped that the results of this study may provide practical knowledge and considerations for English teachers who intend to design their English speaking and writing lessons under different teaching conditions.
