The goal of this study is to identify the effectiveness of the self-assertiveness training program and preventive education for outsiders in bullying situations. The experimental group consists of 110 students and the control group consists of 77 elementary school students in 6th grade. First, this study examined the frequency of bullying and victimization, self-evaluation of the role of bullying, self-assertiveness, peer conformity and levels of acceptance to bullying behaviors in 7 elementary school classes. The self-assertiveness training program is composed of 10 sessions. The first part of the program focuses on the awareness about bullying and the increase in the non-permissive atmosphere toward bullying. The last part of the program focuses on self-assertiveness training. The findings indicate that the role of bullying and victimization among students in the experimental group who participated in the training program decreased in its frequency. However, the frequency of being outsiders and self-assertiveness did not significantly change in bullying situations. At the same time, the neutral conformity decreased and the levels of acceptance to bullying behaviors had significant changes. The implications of the result, the meaning and suggestions the future study were discussed.
