The purpose of this study is to explore the characteristic aspects of religions interpellated contrastively by civil society in the circumstances of ecological anxiety and to shed light on the place of religion in the struggle forthe formation of eco-publicness. So far, many efforts to relate ‘ecology’ and ‘religion’ have mostly focused on the change of individual worldviews, considering religion as something like working ‘inside’ of individual persons. But this study shows that the ways to relate ‘ecology’ and ‘religion’ are not limited to ‘inside’ area of individuals, but that solidarity with the suffering of the others could be one way towards realizing eco-publicness.
