Dano, a famous cycling festival in Korea, had also a city festival function in Seoul in the 1920s. It was specially a festival for women and children. Normally at that time the Korean women could not visit the public place freely. But Dano gave them the free place, where their oppressed emotion could be resolved. But Dano in Seoul has fallen into decay in the 1930s suddenly. It could not retrieve its own function till now.
Dano’s decay was caused by the change of the politics of the Japanese governor-general. The culture politics in the 1920s gave the Korean a relative free room, but the oppression-politics in the 1930s caused the decay of Dano.
Out of this fact we can suppose that in Korea, in Seoul there was a city festival. But it is not sure that we can enjoy it in future, because the community in Korea is still very weak.
