There is now a rapidly growing ‘sport for all’ industry that include health and fitness clubs in Korea. Although participation in popular health and fitness clubs has many benefits, but it is also highly controversial issue concerning the consumption behavior such as motivation and exercise addition. In addition, characteristics of health and fitness clubs' participants are related to their exercise motivation. In doing this, this study has examined the relationship between participation characteristics, exercise motivation and addiction among health club participants. The study used 395 collected data and utilized for data analysis with SPSS Ver. 18.0. It is concluded: (i) levels of exercise motivation among health club participants were different based on their characteristics such as age, exercise careers, exercise frequency, and exercise intention) and (ii) exercise addiction was influenced by exercise motivation.
