This study aims to empirically explore the factors that may affect the social diffusion of personal mobility. A multinomial logistic regression model is set up to test the hypotheses of the study based on the use-diffusion theory. Especially, we conducted big data analysis of personal mobility for improving the reliability of the variables used to test the hypotheses set up in the study. The survey on people who are using personal mobility. This survey, covering 319 users, was carried out from August 1, 2016 through September 30, 2016, using three online communities. The results show that service quality, complexity and relative advantage positively contribute to moving the user group with a low utility into a user group with a middle utility (perceived risk negatively affects the enhance of users’ utility). Moreover, relative advantage and product experience utility have significant positive effects on moving users from a low-utility group to a high-utility group. Based on these empirical findings, some policy and practical implications to improve social diffusion of personal mobility are discussed.
