Currently, the introduction of the Fourth Industrial Revolution has fostered a span of diverse research to drive the innovation of the educational paradigm through the use of emerging technologies and trends, responding to the requests from the society of the future. Among such studies, the NMC (New Media Consortium) is providing foundations on the educational use of emerging technologies and trends by publishing annual “Horizon Reports” through collective knowledge and experience of global experts. Although such global reports offer insights into our national contexts, research is rarely conducted on discussions and guidelines to support the educational use of emerging technologies and trends in the consideration of Korean national policies, infrastructures, culture, etc. Therefore, this study aims towards selecting emerging technologies and trends and exploring their educational potentials. For the research methods, firstly, previous studies including the Horizon Reports were analyzed, and delphi methods were conducted with 27 experts in three rounds. In result, the top 10 emerging technologies and trends were selected to steer and initiate the transformation of the Korean educational paradigm in the short- and mid-term with focus on technological, educational, and social·cultural perspectives. In addition, time-to-adoption, learner-to-adoption, and instructional methods in using the emerging technologies and trends selected in the Korean context and were analyzed. This study has implications on establishing foundations on future empirical research and implementation of such emerging technologies and trends by conducting an exploratory study about educational approaches and strategies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
