After the Great Kanto Earthquake, Japanese writers positively portrayed this incident with essays, criticism, and literary works in front of violence against the Korean people and massacres. The criticisms and works of Japanese writers related to the genocide of he Korean people were as follows. First, in October 1923, Japanese writers began to publish a number of essays on the Korean massacre. In these writings, Japanese writers criticized the events of the brutal genocide of the Japanese in a very irrational manner, raising fundamental questions about modern Japanese civilization since the Meiji era. Next, literary works that depicted the massacres of the Korean people during the Kanto Earthquake were captured from the viewpoint of ‘anger’ about the violence on the Korean people, and they were defined as immoral ugliness of Japanese or Japanese culture. However, Japanese writers were not angry or criticized for the Japanese who committed the Korean massacre. Especially, in the literary works which advocate hopes for the revival of Tokyo after a huge natural disaster, there is a description of the verbal voices, but the memories of the Korean massacre, which has a direct connection with it, are erased. Furthermore, these works dilute the historical facts about the unjustness of the rhetoric and the disastrous sacrifice of the Korean people.
