The climate crisis in anthropocene has uncertainty and diversified effects on all fields such as environment, food, and resources. In this climate crisis, securing harmonious life and coexistence and sustainability between nature and humans is a very important task. Changes in the global environment are no exception to the oceans and islands, and especially in the case of islands, they are sensitive to rapid environmental changes occurring within a limited space and exhibit many socio-cultural vulnerabilities because of lack of resilience in many ways. Residents of the island region are adapting to climate change and maintaining and transmitting their unique information while using limited resources. The unique traditional ecological knowledge of these regions plays an important role in enhancing the resilience and sustainability of social-ecological vulnerable island regions. In order to utilize and spread various traditional ecological knowledge accumulated in the ecological environment and culture of the island and ocean, it is necessary to conduct multidisciplinary and multi-functional convergence research beyond the existing local research scope. In this paper, I will look at domestic and foreign cases to respond to climate crisis using traditional ecological knowledge, how traditional ecological knowledge in marine-island regions contributes to resilience and sustainability of society and ecosystem, and the possibility of establishing traditional ecological knowledge as a new scientific academic system.
