According to the Korean National Statics Office, South Korea will face the wave of elderly population increase. In this circumstance, changing mental and physical status, along with behavior characteristic, should be a lighting environment safe for them. For this goal, this research’s aim was to find out the elderly mental responses to lighted are for the elderly. We have analyzed and researched base on preliminary research to build this environment. Ten light colors were chosen for lighting, Red, Yellow Red, Yellow, Green Yellow, Green, Blue Green, Blue, Purple Blue, Purple, Red Purple, and they were all lit in low, middle and high saturation. Light intensities were measured in 40 lx and 80 lx. A comparative analysis was conducted on the emotional response to each light environment. Analysis results showed, it showed to get emotions like “comfortable/stable”, “happy/delighted”, “good”, “cheerful/active”, the environment should have low saturation lights. When in the middle to high saturation light, emotions effected thermal sense. When building a lighting environment for the elderly, the same light color will have different emotional results depending on saturation, so light color, brightness, and saturation have to be applied cautiously.
