The purpose of this study is to understand the psychological mechanisms of depression in mothers with infants and toddlers. This study examined setting up a mediation model in which intolerance of uncertainty affecting on depression through worry about parenting role and parenting stress, a moderation model in which anxiety sensitivity, moderating the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and worries about parenting role, and a moderated mediation model in which the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and depression was mediated by worry about parenting role and parenting stress and moderated by the level of anxiety sensitivity. As the results of model analyzing of the data collected from 200 mothers with infant/toddler, first, the results from the mediation model indicated that intolerance of uncertainty had significant indirect relations with depression through the mediating roles of worry about parenting role and parenting stress. Second, the results from the moderation model indicated that anxiety sensitivity showed the moderating role in the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and worry about parenting role. Lastly, the results from the moderated mediation model indicated that mothers’ anxiety sensitivity moderated the indirect effect of intolerance of uncertainty on depression via worry about parenting role and parenting stress. Implications for future research and therapist practices were discussed.
