The purpose of this study was to explore the university counseling center clients’ experiences of non-face-to-face counseling. A total 72 undergraduate and graduate students who utilized the individual counseling service at the university counseling centers participated in online survey. Collected data was analyzed using the Modified Consensual Qualitative Research. As a result, in relation to positive experiences of non-face-to-face counseling, 15 categories and three domains emerged. The first domain was related to physical convenience and increased accessability, and it included ‘decreased time and spatial limitations’, ‘reduced risk of COVID-19 infection’, ‘Flexibility in scheduling counseling sessions.’ The second domain was related to psychological comfort which included ‘less of burden for in-person interaction’, ‘feeling easy in self-disclosure’, ‘being able to stay focused in counseling process.’ The last domain related to counselor factors included ‘empathetic and attentive listening’ and ‘genuine attitude.’ In related to negative experience of non-face-to-face counseling, 15 categories and four domains were identified. The first domain related to physical constraints included ‘technical difficulties’ and ‘limited opportunity in use of various tools for counseling.’ The second domain related to difficulties in vibrant communication included ‘limitations of verbal interaction’, ‘lack of practical and emotional connection’, and ‘slow or contradictory communication.’ The third domain relating client factor included ‘difficulties drawing full attention and processing feelings’ and ‘less of commitment in counseling process.’ The fourth domain related to counselor factor included ‘lack of focus and distraction of counselor’ and ‘counselor’s repetitive negative comment on non-face-to-face psychological counseling.
