This study explores the process and results of applying Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in real-time online classes to promote interaction. The study participants were 30 third-year students in the department of early childhood education who took the “Teaching Materials and Methods for Early Childhood Education” in the second semester of 2020. The real-time online classes ran for the first eight weeks out of 15 weeks. Research data were collected from class recording transcription data, researcher journals, research participants' PBL journals, peer and self-rating reports, and open questionnaires. Based on the qualitative data analysis methods of Miles and Huberman (1984), data collection, data arrangement, and conclusion extraction were carried out. The results of the study were as follows. 1) Early period: supporting stable rapport building, 2) Mid-period: following learners' learning speed, 3) Late period: providing clear feedback in a timely manner. These results suggest that in order to promote interaction in online classes, lesson design and strategy is required for it in advance, and that PBL can be one way.
