This paper explores the factors that influenced the relationship between the health and social capital of international students related through the cases of Nepalese and Vietnamese students in Japan. The survey finds that: (1) there were common connections with social capital among students from the same nationality; (2) the weakness of social capital connection with the other people has made a negative impact on the mental health; and (3) the support system from Japanese language teachers and counselor staff of the same nationality had a great impact on the mental health and physical health of international students.
本研究はネパール人留学生とベトナム人留学生の事例を基に、外国人留学生の健康とソーシャルキャピタルの関連性等について明らかにすることを目的としている。本研究の目的を達成するために実施したアンケート調査の結果を基に分析を行った。その結果、第一に、ネパール人留学生及びベトナム人留学生において同じ国籍の友人とのソーシャルキャピタルの結びつきが共通して見られること、第二に、他者とのソーシャルキャピタルの結びつきの弱さが、精神面に負の影響を与えていること、第三に、外国人留学生の精神面や健康面のサポートとして、日本語学習のサポートや同じ国籍の職員のカウンセラー等のサポートが重要であること等が明らかとなった。
